The youngest general manager in WWE history is a fourth-generation wrestler
In short: Born into a dynasty of champions, Simone Alexandra Garcia Johnson traded a planned college education for the ring. After a career-altering knee injury, she became the first fourth-generation wrestler to sign with WWE, eventually ascending to oversee the promotion's most prominent developmental brand.
Simone Alexandra Garcia Johnson, known professionally as Ava, carries a heavy athletic pedigree. As the daughter of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Dany Garcia, she is a blood relative of the legendary Anoaʻi wrestling family. Her heritage established her as a major industry icon: she entered the WWE Performance Center to train in February 2020, becoming the initial fourth-generation wrestler to join the company's roster.
Her path to the spotlight was not linear. After graduating from NSU University School in 2019, Johnson intended to attend New York University. However, a knee injury sustained in July 2019 forced a pivot. She chose to remain in Orlando, Florida, to pursue wrestling—a sport she first became interested in during late 2017 and was encouraged to join by her grandmother.
Ava's rise through the ranks was marked by distinct eras. She debuted in 2023 as part of a villainous faction called Schism, before transitioning into a leadership role. On January 23, 2024, she was promoted to General Manager of NXT, making her the youngest person to hold that position in WWE history. In this role, she oversaw major milestones, including the creation of the NXT Women's North American Championship in April 2024.
Her influence extended beyond NXT; by March 2025, she was appointed to direct the revived Evolve brand. Following a six-year tenure with the company, she announced her decision not to renew her contract on January 30, 2026, marking the end of a rapid ascent from trainee to executive.
