From college basketball standout to a record-breaking force in professional wrestling
In short: Victoria González, known as Raquel Rodriguez, transitioned from a collegiate basketball career to becoming a dominant figure in WWE. A second-generation wrestler, she has secured multiple tag team championships and recently claimed her first main roster singles title, all while managing a complex health diagnosis that has impacted her professional journey.
Born in 1991 in La Feria, Texas, González initially pursued basketball, excelling at Hidalgo High School before playing at the collegiate level for Texas A&M Kingsville and Sam Houston. Her athletic background provided a foundation for her transition into professional wrestling in 2013, when she began training under George de la Isla. She spent several years on the independent circuit before signing with WWE in October 2016.
Her WWE career is defined by significant tag team success. She holds the distinction of being a six-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, having won the titles with partners Aliyah, Liv Morgan, and Roxanne Perez. Her partnership with Morgan, in particular, has been a central narrative, marked by multiple title reigns and occasional friction. She also made history as an inaugural NXT Women's Tag Team Champion alongside Dakota Kai, a title they secured twice.
Beyond her physical accolades, Rodriguez has navigated significant personal challenges. In January 2024, she disclosed a diagnosis of mast cell activation syndrome, a condition that has necessitated hiatuses from television programming due to health flares. Despite these interruptions, she has remained a prominent competitor, recently capturing the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship in July 2027 and introducing a custom barbed-wire belt to mark the achievement.
A devout Episcopalian who often leads pre-show prayers, González balances her wrestling persona with a commitment to her faith and community. Her versatility extends outside the ring as well; she holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications and participated in the 2026 NFL Draft as a celebrity announcer for the Houston Texans. Her career remains a study in athletic endurance and adaptation within the high-pressure environment of professional sports entertainment.
