The technical collation of these votes is handled by Yangaroo, Inc., a digital distribution firm that manages the voting process for several other televised ceremonies under the Paramount Skydance parent company.
The awards also feature specialized categories that distinguish between different types of impact. The Humanitarian Award, created in 2002, recognizes celebrity philanthropists who donate time and money to charitable causes. In contrast, the Ultimate Icon Award, established in 2015, honors veteran artists whose careers are considered iconic by the public in music, dance, and music video fields. For the highest honors, such as the Lifetime Achievement Award, the ceremony utilizes a mini-documentary to cover the honoree's career before they are paid tribute by other performers.
