In short: In the surreal world of Nickelodeon's Catscratch, three feline brothers suddenly find themselves wealthy heirs after their owner passes away. Living in luxury with a monster truck named Gear and a long-suffering butler, these anthropomorphic cats navigate a life of paranormal chaos, bizarre rivalries, and accidental near-death experiences.

Created by Doug TenNapel and based on his comic book series Gear, Catscratch premiered on Nickelodeon on July 9, 2005. The show follows the lives of Mr. Blik, a vain Bombay cat who acts as the self-appointed leader; Gordon Quid, a rational Manx and Munchkin mix who insists he hails from a Scottish clan; and Waffle, a dimwitted but happy-go-lucky American Curl. Their lives are managed by Hovis, a butler from a long line of domestic servants who finds himself forced to serve his former pets.

The series is defined by its eccentric tone and high-energy antics. The cats frequently encounter strange threats, such as a grizzly bear named Randall who stalks their home, while dealing with their own internal dynamics. Mr. Blik’s obsession with power and wealth often clashes with Gordon’s infatuation with their human neighbor, Kimberly, and Waffle’s fascination with simplistic items. Despite the show's action-packed premise, critics like Sarah Wenk of Common Sense Media have described it as a generic, by-the-book program, noting its loud voices and frequent slapstick humor.

Production was relatively short-lived, with the series running for 20 episodes until its cancellation in February 2007. Despite its initial 13-episode order and a subsequent expansion, the show never received a complete home media release. Today, Catscratch remains an outlier in the Nickelodeon library; it has not aired on the network since 2007, has been absent from Nicktoons since 2015, and is notably unavailable for digital purchase or streaming on platforms like Paramount+.
