Can three strangers use their dreams to stop a corrupt lawyer from destroying lives?
In short: In this South Korean fantasy drama, a reporter, a prosecutor, and a police officer share a supernatural bond. After saving each other years ago, they gain the ability to foresee tragic future events in their sleep. Together, they race against time to prevent these nightmares from becoming a deadly reality.
The 2017 series, directed by Oh Chung-hwan and scripted by Park Hye-ryun, follows the lives of Nam Hong-joo, Jung Jae-chan, and Han Woo-tak. The trio is linked by precognitive dreams that reveal impending crimes and disasters. Their primary antagonist is Lee Yoo-beom, a former prosecutor turned corrupt lawyer who manipulates evidence and commits murder to secure favorable outcomes. The narrative explores the moral weight of their shared burden as they attempt to alter the future.
The characters are deeply interconnected by past traumas. Hong-joo and Jae-chan both lost their fathers to the same runaway soldier, a tragedy that set them on their respective paths. Jae-chan, a rookie prosecutor, struggles to balance his professional duties with his secret ability, all while protecting Hong-joo, a journalist who once aspired to be a baseball player. Meanwhile, Woo-tak, a top-performing police officer, hides his own secret—color blindness—while joining the others in their fight against Yoo-beom’s machinations.
The production of the series was notable for being fully pre-produced, meaning filming and editing were completed before the first episode aired. Production began in February 2017 and concluded in July 2017 at the Wonbang set in Paju. The show aired on SBS from September to November 2017. Beyond its fantasy elements, the series examines themes of justice, sacrifice, and the impact of childhood connections on adult lives, as the protagonists navigate the consequences of their visions and their growing romantic entanglements.
