A contemporary reimagining of tradition at Queen Victoria's seaside home
In short: Experience how modern art meets royal history at Osborne House. This video explores a unique installation that replaces traditional greenery with origami, offering a moment of quiet reflection during the holiday season.
Designed by Anna Hünnerkopf, the 'Freedom' tree features 200 white paper origami birds suspended from metal poles. Each bird is engraved in silver with the initials 'V&A'.
The installation was originally created to mark the bicentenary of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s birth. It serves as a contemporary reimagining of the Christmas tree, intended to provide a peaceful space for visitors at Osborne on the Isle of Wight through January 7, 2024.
