The 2025 Boise State Broncos Marked a Final Chapter in Mountain West History
In short: The 2025 season served as a definitive turning point for the Boise State Broncos football program. Competing under the guidance of second-year head coach Spencer Danielson, the team navigated their final year within the Mountain West Conference before a highly anticipated transition to the Pac-12 Conference scheduled for 2026.
The 2025 campaign for the Boise State Broncos was defined by both its competitive performance and its significance as a transitional period. Operating as a member of the Mountain West Conference, the team played their home contests at Albertsons Stadium, situated on the university campus in Boise, Idaho. This season represented the conclusion of their tenure in the Mountain West, a conference they have been associated with during their recent history. The strategic shift to the Pac-12 Conference, set to take effect in 2026, signals a major realignment for the program as they seek new competitive challenges in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
Fan engagement remained a cornerstone of the program throughout this final year. The Broncos maintained a robust presence in the local sports landscape, drawing an average home attendance of 32,891 spectators. This figure solidified their status as the most-attended American football team across the entire state of Idaho, reflecting the deep-rooted support the university enjoys within the region. The atmosphere at Albertsons Stadium continued to be a critical factor in the team's home-field advantage as they navigated the complexities of their conference schedule.
The administrative and competitive rhythm of the season was established early, with the Mountain West Conference releasing its official preseason prediction poll on July 16, 2025. This poll provided the initial framework for expectations surrounding the team's performance. As the season progressed, the Broncos focused on their conference objectives, culminating in significant matchups such as the Mountain West Championship Game against UNLV. By balancing the immediate demands of their final conference schedule with the long-term implications of their upcoming move to the Pac-12, the 2025 Broncos managed a complex transition that will be remembered as a pivotal moment in the history of Boise State athletics.
