In short: In the hierarchy of North American football, League C represents the ultimate proving ground. For nine national teams, the 2026–27 season is not just about avoiding relegation, but about navigating a complex path through group stages and play-in rounds to reach the prestigious Gold Cup.

The 2026–27 CONCACAF Nations League C serves as the third and lowest tier of the fifth season of this international football competition. It involves the men's national teams from the 41 member associations of CONCACAF. The competition structure is designed to facilitate movement between tiers, with the nine participating teams divided into three groups of three. These teams compete in a double round-robin format during the September to October 2026 FIFA match window.

A significant shift in the tournament's architecture was introduced for this season. For the first time, Leagues B and C feature a final round following the group stage to determine a definitive winner. This format mirrors the structure used in League A. The champions of League C will be crowned during the League Championship in March 2027, which will consist of a semi-final round, a third-place play-off, and a final match at a centralized venue.

The stakes extend beyond the divisional trophy. Although League C sides lack a direct route to the 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup, an alternative path exists. The top-placed team from each group, along with the best second-placed team, will earn promotion to the 2028–29 League B. Furthermore, these four teams advance to a play-in round where they join four teams from League A, competing for a spot in the 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup qualification tournament.

The composition of the nine teams in League C is determined by movement between seasons. This specific cohort includes five teams that failed to achieve promotion in the previous season and four teams that were relegated from the 2024–25 League B. To organize the competition, CONCACAF uses rankings from July 20, 2026, to seed teams into three pots, ensuring a balanced distribution during the group draw held in Miami on July 23, 2026.
