From Boardwalk Empire to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: the rise of Brady Noon
In short: How does a child actor transition from period crime dramas to voicing iconic animated heroes? Born in New Jersey, Brady Noon has navigated a diverse career spanning high-stakes HBO dramas, coming-of-age comedies, and major franchise voice roles, proving his versatility across both live-action and animation.
Brady Noon began his professional journey in 2010, securing a role in the HBO period crime drama Boardwalk Empire. Portraying Thomas Darmody, he was part of an ensemble that earned an Actor Award for Outstanding Performance in a Drama Series and received a nomination at the Young Artist Awards. This early exposure to prestige television set the stage for a career that would eventually bridge the gap between live-action and voice acting.
In 2019, Noon moved into principal acting, appearing with Jacob Tremblay in the comedy Good Boys. His versatility became even more apparent through his voice work. He provided the voice for Greg Heffley in the first three animated reboot films of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise between 2021 and 2023, a role that earned him two consecutive Kids' Choice Awards nominations. He has since expanded his vocal range to include Raphael in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, appearing in films like Mutant Mayhem and the series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Noon's career has also seen him navigate the complexities of major film productions. For instance, he was cast as Lucas Hollister for the western film Rust in September 2021. However, due to production delays exceeding a year following a shooting incident, Noon was unable to fulfill the role due to other commitments. He was eventually replaced by Patrick Scott McDermott in April 2023. Despite these shifts, Noon has remained active in high-profile projects, including the Netflix fantasy comedy Family Switch in 2023 and the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.
Having grown up in Lacey Township's Forked River area, New Jersey, Noon maintains a diverse range of work. From his appearance in the comedy Marry Me in 2022 to his 2024 casting in Mother and Me, he has demonstrated a consistent ability to move between genres and mediums.
