In short: Before he was a star running back for Stanford, Jonathan Bryce Love was a sprinting phenomenon. In 2009, a twelve-year-slot-old achieved something unprecedented in youth athletics, setting three national records in a single year and signaling the arrival of a generational talent.

Long before his 2017 breakout season at Stanford, where he rushed for 2,118 yards and earned the Doak Walker Award, Bryce Love was a dominant force on the track. In 2009, competing in the midget age group (11–12 years old), Love achieved a feat never before seen: setting three national records in one year. He recorded marks of 11.64s for the 100m, 23.37s during the 200m, and 50.75s in the 400m sprint. This extraordinary year earned him the USATF Youth Athlete of the Year honors.

His momentum continued into the 13–14 age group, where he set new records at a meet in Hoschton, Georgia, running 10.73 in the 100m and 21.83 in the 200m on consecutive days. This raw speed translated effectively to the football field. By the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Love demonstrated his explosive capability with an electronically timed 4.4-second 40-yard dash.

Despite a collegiate career defined by immense talent—including a school-record 301-yard single game and a runner-up finish for the 2017 Heisman Trophy—his professional trajectory was hampered by injury. After being selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Washington Redskins, a lingering knee injury prevented him from ever appearing in a regular-season game for the franchise. Today, the former human biology graduate has transitioned from the field to technology investing and sports analysis.
