The high-scoring prodigy who mastered the art of the transfer
In short: From a Washington high school legend to a WNBA draft pick, Hailey Van Lith’s career has been defined by rapid evolution. Through multiple collegiate transfers and international gold medals, she has navigated the intense pressure of being a top-tier recruit while redefining her role on the court.
Hailey Van Lith’s ascent began in Cashmere, Washington, where she became the state's all-time leading scorer, surpassing a record held since 1995. Her high school career was marked by extraordinary statistical feats, including a historic quadruple-double in 2018 where she recorded 37 points, 14 steals, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. This early dominance earned her a spot as a McDonald's All-American and a five-star recruit ranking.
Her collegiate journey is a study in adaptation. After three seasons with the Louisville Cardinals—where she reached the 2022 Final Four and earned first-team All-ACC honors—she entered the transfer portal as the nation's top transfer. She moved to LSU for her senior season before eventually joining TCU. At TCU, she achieved a rare feat, winning both Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the．Year in a single season, leading the Horned Frogs to their first conference regular season and tournament titles.
Beyond the collegiate circuit, Van Lith has been a mainstay for USA basketball in various formats. She has secured gold medals at the 2018 and 2019 FIBA Under-17 and Under-19 World Cups, and notably won the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup. Her professional transition began with the Chicago Sky, selecting her 11th overall in the 2025 WNBA draft. Despite facing challenges like ankle surgery and roster changes with the Connecticut Sun, her trajectory remains one of the most watched in the sport.
