A rare discovery of Waterloo soldiers' remains found hidden in a Belgian attic

Incredibly Rare Battle of Waterloo Skeletons Discovered in an Attic · 21:25 · Video: History Hit · Watch at the source

In short: Historians have uncovered the largest cache of Battle of Waterloo casualties ever found, including remains stored in an attic. This video follows Dan Snow as he examines these rare bones to reveal the reality of the soldiers who fought in one of Europe's bloodiest conflicts.

The remains of up to 10 soldiers, believed to be a mix of Prussian, French, and British troops, were identified by a team of Belgian and German academics. These men were killed during the fighting on June 18, 1815, the day Napoleon Bonaparte's forces were defeated by the Seventh Coalition, ultimately leading to his surrender and exile.

Before this discovery, only two complete skeletons had ever been recovered from the site of the battle. By analyzing this new cache, researchers are gaining unprecedented insight into the lives and fates of the regular soldiers who participated in the historic clash.
