The goalkeeper who single-handedly saved a club from relegation
In short: In the high-stakes battle for league survival, one man stood between Hull City and the drop. Ivor Pandur’s extraordinary 2024–25 campaign was defined by heroics, penalty saves, and a string of individual awards that cemented his reputation as a world-class shot-stopper.
Ivor Pandur's rise through European football is a study in resilience. After making his professional debut for Rijeka in late 2019, the Croatian goalkeeper moved to Italy's Serie A with Hellas Verona in August 2020. It was here that he first demonstrated his penalty-saving prowess, notably during a 3–3 Coppa Italia draw against Venezia, where he stopped two spot-kicks during a shootout.
His journey took him through the Dutch Eredivisie with Fortuna Sittard, where he earned Team of the Month honors in both October 2022 and August 2023, before a pivotal move to Hull City in January 2024. At Hull, Pandur became a talismanic figure. During the 2024–25 season, his performances were instrumental in the club's survival in the Championship. A standout moment occurred on 14 April 2025, against Coventry City, where his saves were cited as the sole reason the match ended in a 1–1 draw.
The scale of his impact was reflected in the club's end-of-season honors. By May 2026, Pandur had swept the major awards, winning the Hull City Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, and Supporters' Player of the Year titles. Despite interest from clubs like Middlesbrough—who were reportedly unwilling to meet Hull's £5,000,000 asking price—and rumors involving West Ham United, Pandur's career reached a new peak when Rangers announced his signing on a four-year deal on 30 June 2026.
Beyond club football, Pandur has ascended the international ranks. After serving as a standby member for the Croatian senior squad in September 2025, he received his first full senior call-up in November 2025. His momentum culminated in his selection for Croatia's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
