From university pranks to the boxing ring: the evolution of King Kenny
In short: Before he was a professional athlete, Kenny Oghenovo Ojuederie was a student caught in a bizarre campus prank involving a chainsaw and a clown suit. His journey from viral content creator to a high-stakes tournament fighter illustrates the modern shift from digital influence to physical competition.
In 2013, Kenny launched his YouTube channel, initially focusing on vlogs and pranks. His rise to prominence was marked by a notable 2016 incident where he was arrested for a public order offense while dressed as an evil clown with a chainsaw on his university campus. While he apologized, stating his friends were in on the stunt, the event highlighted the boundary between internet performance and public safety.
His career shifted toward collective influence in 2019 when he joined the Beta Squad. This British YouTube group lived in a London mansion to create collaborative content, eventually amassing over 12 million subscribers. This period solidified his status as a major social media personality before he pivoted toward a more disciplined, physical pursuit: professional boxing.
Kenny's boxing career was characterized by high-profile matchups against other internet figures. He debuted professionally in 2022 against FaZe Sensei and faced American YouTuber FaZe Temperrr at Wembley Arena. His most significant tournament run occurred in 2023, where he defeated Thai YouTuber My Mate Nate and Brazilian comedian Whindersson Nunes. However, his path to the final was cut short when the Kingpyn Boxing High Stakes Tournament was cancelled due to the promoter's bankruptcy.
Despite several victories, including a technical knockout over Adam Brooks in 2024, Kenny faced significant losses against figures like Ashley Rak-Su and Anthony Taylor. His professional journey concluded in May 2026, when he announced his retirement from boxing following a broken rib sustained during a sparring session.
