In short: The path to K-pop stardom is rarely a straight line. For Park Woo-jin, it was a grueling journey through multiple labels and high-stakes reality competitions that transformed him from an eleven-year-old auditionee into a chart-topping performer for some of the industry's biggest groups.

Park Woo-jin’s trajectory illustrates the intense competitive landscape of the South Korean music industry. His journey began at age eleven when he first auditioned for the survival program Superstar K. This early exposure set the stage for a professional training period that spanned over a year, during which he moved between different major labels, starting as a trainee under JYP Entertainment before transitioning to Brand New Music.

His breakout moment came in 2017 on Produce 101 Season 2. Representing Brand New Music, Park demonstrated his versatility by choreographing the dance for 'Hollywood.' His performance earned him sixth place in the final ranking, securing a spot in the project group Wanna One under YMC Entertainment. During this era, he achieved swift triumphs, such as performing at Gocheok Sky Dome in August 2017 and securing the Best Unit Award alongside Triple Position during the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Following the conclusion of his contract with Wanna One on December 31, 2018, Park pivoted to diverse solo activities and group leadership. He collaborated with international artists like A Boogie wit da Hoodie and appeared in variety shows such as Law of the Jungle in Thailand. In May 2019, he debuted with the boy group AB6IX under his original label, Brand New Music, eventually releasing his first solo EP, oWn, in February 2023.

Park's career highlights the 'project group' model of K-pop, where idols are formed through public voting and then transition into long-term groups or solo careers. His ability to navigate these shifts—from trainee to project idol to established group member—reflects a high level of adaptability in a rapidly evolving entertainment ecosystem.
