Parker Messick’s path to the Major Leagues began in Plant City, Florida. During his senior year at Plant City High School, he established himself as a premier talent, leading the state in strikeouts with 125 batters and posting an 11–1 record with a 1.06 ERA. This dominance earned him the title of Florida Mr. Baseball and set the stage for a decorated collegiate career with the Florida State Seminoles.
At Florida State, Messick’s versatility and command were on full display. As a redshirt freshman, he earned ACC Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors, recording 126 strikeouts in 90 innings. His summer performance was equally impressive; playing for the Winter Garden Squeeze, he secured the league's Cy Young Award after a 3–0 run with a 0.49 ERA. His development continued through the 2022 MLB draft, where the Cleveland Guardians selected him in the second round, 54th overall, providing a $1.3 million signing bonus.
Messick’s transition to the big leagues was rapid. After climbing through the minor league ranks in 2023 and 2024, he made his MLB debut in 2025. By August 20, 2025, he was promoted to the 40-man roster. His 2026 season cemented his elite status; despite narrowly missing a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles in April, he earned his first All-Star selection on July 4. By the end of his first full season, he ranked among the American League's best, posting the 3rd-lowest ERA and the 2nd-most WAR (6.3) among pitchers.
