After initially pledging his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017, he switched his allegiance to the Georgia Bulldogs in early 2018. His rise was rapid; by his junior season at Georgia, he had ascended to become the team's fourth-leading tackler with 43 recorded stops.
Walker's professional career began in the 2022 NFL draft, where the Green Bay Packers selected him in the first round as the 22nd overall pick—a selection made possible by a trade involving Davante Adams. His rookie campaign was statistically dominant, as he played all 17 games and led the team with 121 total tackles. Despite this success, his season was marred by unprecedented disciplinary issues. He was ejected twice in a single year, once for an altercation with the Buffalo Bills' coaching staff and again for shoving a member of the Detroit Lions' medical staff.
