In short: Before he was a third-round NFL draft pick, Roman Wilson was a standout in Hawaii, part of a legendary 38-game winning streak. Now a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, his journey from the Big Ten to the professional stage is marked by explosive speed and championship grit.

Born in Kihei, Hawaii, on June 19, 2001, Roman Wilson's ascent through the ranks of football was defined by early dominance. At Saint Louis School in Honolulu, he contributed to a remarkable 38-game winning streak and four consecutive state championships. His physical tools were evident early; during a 2019 Nike regional camp, he clocked a 4.37-second 40-yard dash, earning the title of 'Fastest Man' and ranking as the third-best player in his home state.

Wilson's collegiate career at the University of Michigan saw him evolve into a key playmaker. After committing to the Wolverines in July 2019, he navigated a career that included a COVID-shortened 2020 season and a standout 2023 campaign. That year, he helped Michigan secure a national championship, notably scoring the touchdown in the Rose Bowl against Alabama that forced overtime. His performance earned him second-team All-Big Ten honors from both media and coaches, following a season with 48 receptions and 12 touchdowns.

Transitioning to the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Wilson in the third round of the 2024 draft, 84th overall. His rookie season was hampered by physical setbacks, including an ankle injury during training camp and a subsequent hamstring injury that landed him on the Reserve/Injured List. Despite these hurdles, he recorded his first professional catch on September 14, 2025, a seven-yard reception from Aaron Rodgers during a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
