From Nevada standout to NFL playmaker: the rise of Romeo Doubs
In short: After a prolific collegiate career at Nevada, Romeo Doubs transitioned to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers. His journey has been defined by explosive breakout performances, high-stakes playoff contributions, and the resilience required to navigate injuries and team suspensions in the professional ranks.
Romeo Doubs established himself as a dominant force at the University of Nevada, Reno. During his senior year, he recorded a career-high 80 receptions for 1,109 yards and 11 touchdowns. His collegiate impact was significant; he once tied the school record by catching 19 passes in a single game against Fresno State, a feat that also led the FBS that season.
After being taken by the Green Bay Packers during the 2022 NFL draft's fourth round, Doubs showed instant promise. During his debut year, he excelled in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, securing 73 yards and his maiden touchdown from Aaron Rodgers on all eight targets. This performance earned him the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honors.
His professional career has been marked by both high-level production and significant challenges. In 2023, he recorded 59 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns, including a notable 151-yard performance against the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round. However, his tenure in Green Bay also saw disciplinary and health hurdles, including a suspension in October 2023 following a two-day absence from practice and multiple concussions sustained during play.
Following his time in Green Bay, Doubs moved to the New England Patriots. On March 12, 2026, he signed a substantial four-year, $68 million contract with the franchise, marking a major milestone in his professional career.
