The eleventh season of The Masked Singer brought major panel changes and themed nights
In short: When The Masked Singer returned for its eleventh season in 2024, the competition featured a historic shift in its judging panel. While familiar faces returned, a new guest judge stepped in for the first time since the show began, overseeing a lineup of celebrities boasting massive collective career achievements.
The eleventh season, which aired on Fox between March 6 and May 22, 2024, introduced the first significant alteration to the show's panel since its inception. Rita Ora, a recording artist and veteran of the British version of the series, replaced longtime panelist Nicole Scherzinger. This change was necessitated by Scherzinger's commitment to a West End production of Sunset Boulevard. Ora joined returning regulars Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, and Ken Jeong to evaluate the performances of 16 primary contestants and three wild card entrants.
The competition maintained its established structure, dividing participants into three groups. The format included the Ding Dong Keep It On bell, a feature carried over from the ninth season that allows panelists to save one contestant from elimination. Throughout the season, the show leaned heavily into themed nights, dedicating episodes to iconic figures like Billy Joel and Queen, as well as broader cultural touchstones such as Shower Anthems, Girl Groups, and the film-toy franchise Transformers. These themes were complemented by guest appearances from past winners and notable figures, including LeAnn Rimes and characters from the Transformers universe.
The celebrity cast brought a staggering combined resume to the stage. Collectively, the group accounted for 22 Grammy nominations and 11 platinum albums. Their professional reach extended far beyond music, encompassing 33 Teen Choice nominations, over 100 million records sold, more than 1.7 billion streams on Spotify, and hundreds of film credits. The season concluded with actor Vanessa Hudgens, performing as Goldfish, taking the top prize, while actor Scott Porter, disguised as Gumball, secured second place.
