In short: In most fantasy worlds, healers are relegated to the back lines, providing passive support while warriors take the brunt of the violence. But what happens when a healer is forced to run into the thick of the fight? One protagonist discovers that 'wrong' usage might be the only way to survive.

The narrative centers on Ken Usato, an ordinary high school student accidentally summoned to the Llinger Kingdom alongside two other students. While his companions are trained as traditional warriors—Suzune Inukami with thunder magic and Kazuki Ryusen with light magic—Usato is gifted with healing magic. Despite its rarity, this power is typically dismissed as weak and practically useless in active combat scenarios compared to offensive arts.

This perception shifts when Rose, the captain of the Kingdom's Rescue Team, enlists Usato for front-line training. A former Battalion Commander who resigned after losing her subordinates to demon monster hunters, Rose seeks a 'subordinate who will never die.' Her brutal regimen aims to transform Usato into an ideal healer capable of enduring the battlefield. Through this grueling process, Usato begins to develop physical and mental strength, eventually discovering unconventional ways to utilize his magic 'the wrong way' during ambassadorial missions.

The story explores the mechanics of magical affinity and the social dynamics of heroism. It highlights the burden of King Lloyd, a ruler who knowingly summoned these youths with no means of return. By pushing healing magic beyond its traditional role as mere restorative support, Usato challenges the hierarchy of power in this new world, proving that even 'weak' magic can become a formidable tool for survival when applied with sufficient endurance and creativity.

The series has seen significant growth since its 2014 online debut on Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It expanded into a twelve-volume light novel series by Media Factory, a manga adaptation in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace, and an anime production by Studio Add and Shin-Ei Animation in early 2024.
