Can a mechanical elephant turn a city into a playground?
In short: Visual artist Helen Marriage uses large-scale public art to break the boundaries of urban life. This talk explores how immersive installations can transform everyday environments into shared spaces for collective wonder.
Marriage showcases her work by highlighting three specific cities she transformed into 'playgrounds of the imagination.' One notable example features a giant mechanical elephant marching through London.
By creating these astonishing visual experiences, Marriage aims to capture people's attention in a way that encourages them to stop and marvel. The goal is to foster moments of shared experience where citizens can collectively engage with art outside of traditional gallery settings.
