How a teenage gang member became a global Hollywood star
In short: Before his rise to fame, Mark Wahlberg faced a turbulent youth. This video explores his transition from a gang member involved in frequent legal troubles to one of the most successful actors in the industry.
Born as the youngest of nine children living in a three-bedroom apartment, Wahlberg's early life was marked by significant hardship. After dropping out of school at approximately fourteen, he joined a gang and faced the law an estimated 20 to 25 times for various offenses, including drug dealing. He has also stated that he struggled with cocaine addiction during this period.
His violent past reached a peak when he was 16 years old. During an unprovoked attack on two Vietnamese men, he used a stick against one and punched the other, resulting in the victim being permanently blinded. This video examines the dramatic turnaround from these troubled beginnings to his current status in Hollywood.
