The only truth you can never doubt is your own existence

“I Think, Therefore, I am” EXPLAINED | Rene Descartes Meditations and Discourse on Method · 9:03 · Video: PhilosophyToons · Watch at the source

In short: Explore the radical skepticism of René Descartes and how he used his own consciousness as a foundation for absolute certainty. This video breaks down the logic behind one of history's most famous philosophical pillars.

In 'Meditations on First Philosophy,' Descartes attempted to strip away every belief that could possibly be doubted to find an揺るぎない (unshakeable) foundation for knowledge. By critically analyzing common beliefs, he found they were often tainted by uncertainty.

He eventually reached a singular point of certainty: the act of thinking itself. Because he was currently doubting and thinking, there had to be a subject performing that action. This led to his famous conclusion: because I think, I must exist.
