The intense struggle for survival when Africa's river giants lose their water
In short: Witness the high-stakes drama in Botswana's Okavango Delta, where drying riverbeds force hundreds of hippos into crowded, competitive pools.
As the Okavango River dries, hippo pods are compressed into tight spaces, facing mounting pressure from crocodiles, eagles, and pelicans. This footage explores the paradox of the hippopotamus: an animal that cannot swim but remains entirely dependent on water. Beyond their reputation for danger, the film uses underwater cinematography to reveal a more complex side of these giants—showing them as intelligent, sensitive, and compassionate creatures protecting their families during extreme drought.
