Can humans be adopted into the secret social circles of wild dolphins?
In short: Marine biologists spent years in the Red Sea using silent diving technology to earn the trust of a wild dolphin pod. This documentary captures the rare moment they were welcomed into the inner circle to observe private behaviors.
The film follows marine biologist Angela Ziltener and her team as they navigate the social complexities of dolphins in Egypt's Red Sea. By minimizing their presence, the researchers were able to witness never-before-seen behaviors, including intricate social rituals and complex communication.
A significant scientific discovery highlighted in the footage is the dolphins' use of natural medicine. The team observed the animals utilizing specific corals to treat their own skin conditions, providing a unique window into their intelligence and self-care behaviors.
