The hidden emotional intelligence of Kenya's African elephants
In short: Watch how young elephants navigate the balance between play and survival in the dry river beds of Samburu. This footage reveals the complex social structures and deep emotions of these intelligent giants.
Filmed in Northern Kenya, this footage captures the secret lives of African elephants, highlighting their sophisticated family dynamics and high levels of intelligence. While the calves appear to be simply playing in the sand, they are simultaneously navigating a landscape where they must remain vigilant against predators.
The series also documents the conservation efforts of the Save the Elephants team. Led by Iain and Saba Douglas-Hamilton, the team works to protect these animals through tracking collars and fostering human-elephant relationships.
