When the forest shrinks, motherhood becomes a territorial battle
In short: In the isolated rainforests of Madagascar, the Indri faces a desperate biological dilemma. This documentary captures the high-stakes struggle for space as shrinking habitats force mothers to choose between defense and survival.
Madagascar's isolation in the Indian Ocean has fostered unique evolution, creating a home for prosimians like the lemur. Among them is the Indri, one of about 100 known species of these primates, which inhabits the island's eastern rainforests.
The film explores a specific territorial crisis: an Indri mother must decide whether to drive away a rival female or allow her into a dwindling territory. As forest space decreases, the mother risks her offspring's life by sharing resources in an environment that may no longer support them both.
