The hidden human cost of protecting Africa's lions
In short: Ivan Carter investigates a series of murdered lions to uncover the enduring, violent friction between human communities and apex predators. This documentary explores why this ancient conflict persists today.
This investigation moves beyond simple conservationist rhetoric to examine the cultural perspectives and ethical dilemmas that drive lion killings across Africa. It highlights the specific challenges faced by local communities and conservationists who are struggling to find a way for humans and lions to coexist.
The narrative places Carter in a position of personal reflection, testing his core values against the harsh realities of human-wildlife conflict. By investigating these murders, the film reveals the complex layers of history and modern necessity that shape how people interact with one of the continent's most iconic species.
