A family of chimps faces a desperate choice between safety and survival
In short: Trapped by human expansion, a small group of chimpanzees must decide whether to risk the open savannah to reclaim their forest home. This video captures the high-stakes tension of their first attempt at coordinated hunting.
A family of approximately 20 chimpanzees in Uganda has been confined to a small area for 10 years due to encroaching villages. Because they are unable to traverse the 8km distance to their original forest habitat, the group is forced into inbreeding, with all current infants being male.
The narrative explores whether these chimps will risk the dangers of the open savannah to find food and freedom. The video highlights their need for improved teamwork as they attempt to procure resources in a restricted environment that threatens their long-term survival.
