The ancient bond between the Sami people and their reindeer
In short: Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan travels deep into Finnish Lapland to experience a way of life shaped by ice, snow, and a profound connection to animals.
Gordon lives with a Sami family in the Arctic Circle to learn how these traditionally nomadic people survived harsh winters by relying on reindeer. Gordon strives for a connection with his personal reindeer while examining this distinct cultural tie.
After immersing himself in Sami culture, Gordon sets off alone across frozen lakes guided only by his reindeer. His goal is to navigate the wilderness using traditional knowledge to witness one of the Arctic's most revered natural phenomena: the northern lights.
