Surviving the frozen north with the ancient Sami reindeer herders
In short: Join wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan in the Arctic Circle as he lives with a Sami family in Finnish Lapland to explore the profound bond between humans and reindeer.
The film follows Gordon's journey into the northernmost reaches of Lapland, where he learns from the Sami—a traditionally nomadic people known as the reindeer people. Through his experience living with a Sami family, the video examines how these herders rely on reindeer to endure the harsh winters of the frozen wilderness.
Beyond the cultural connection, the journey tracks Gordon's attempt to navigate the ice and snow alone, using the knowledge of his hosts to seek out the northern lights.
