From Primeval Wilds to Managed Landscapes: The Evolution of Northern Forests
In short: This documentary explores the cultural and historical transformation of Northern European forests. It traces the shift from ancient, wild ecosystems to the intensively managed woodlands we see today.
The film serves as a cultural-historical homage to the German and Northern European forests. It examines how these landscapes transitioned from primeval wilderness—once home to wolves, bears, eagles, deer, and musk ox—into areas shaped by human cultivation by the Celts and Teutons.
The narrative highlights a modern crisis: the forest as a victim of overexploitation and environmental degradation. By showcasing high-quality cinematography, the documentary captures the tension between historical preservation and contemporary industrial pressures.
