A high-stakes gamble for survival in Borneo’s waterways
In short: Watch a family of proboscis monkeys navigate one of nature's most dangerous corridors: a river teeming with crocodiles. This footage captures the raw tension of life on Borneo, where every leap toward food is a calculated risk against a deadly predator.
Set within the fragile ecosystem of Borneo, this sequence highlights the constant struggle for resources among proboscis monkeys. To access new feeding grounds, these primates must traverse rivers inhabited by crocodiles, showcasing the extreme environmental pressures faced by island wildlife.
The footage is part of a broader exploration of three iconic islands—Madagascar, Borneo, and Hawaii. These contained ecosystems are noted for their extraordinary biodiversity and cultural richness, while remaining some of the most vulnerable habitats on Earth.
