The Serengeti's massive maternity room hosts 250,000 births in three weeks
In short: Witness the raw mechanics of Earth's greatest animal migration. This documentary captures the perilous journey of millions of gnus as they navigate a landscape defined by the cycle of 'devour and be devoured.'
The film follows artiodactyls—specifically millions of gnus—as they migrate between Tanzania and Kenya in search of lush grass. A primary focus is the 'birthing meadow,' the world's largest maternity room, where approximately 250,000 calves are born within a three-week window.
The journey is marked by extreme danger for young animals heading toward Kenyan pastures. The footage highlights the complex ecosystem of the Serengeti, showcasing zebra families moving with the herds and predators like lions and hyenas hunting along the route.
