The solitary queen who commands an empire of winged killers
In short: In the mountains of Japan, a single hornet awakens from hibernation to establish a summer dynasty. This video explores the life of the Japanese giant hornet, the world's largest wasp, as she builds a formidable colony of predators.
The Japanese giant hornet is characterized by its formidable physical traits, including thick armor plating, razor-sharp jaws, and a lethal half-inch stinger. As the largest wasp on Earth, the queen is the sole architect of a colony designed to expand its reign across the countryside.
The narrative follows the queen's mission to create a 'murderous horde' that poses a threat to both other insects and humans alike. It highlights the dramatic cycle of life in Honshu Island, where one insect's survival ensures the dominance of its species for the duration of the summer.
