In short: Before it was a destination for thrills, Adventure World was a site of industrial extraction. To create its landscape, 380,000 tonnes of sand were moved to reshape a limestone quarry into a sprawling theme park. It is a masterclass in land transformation and engineering.

Adventure World, located in Bibra Lake near Perth, Western Australia, serves as a prime example of how industrial sites can be repurposed for leisure. To transform a former limestone quarry, 380,000 tonnes (840 million pounds) of sand were utilised for landscaping, leading to the park's debut on 11 November 1982. This transformation created a 14.16-hectare (35-acre) space that now hosts 25 different attractions. The site is situated approximately 15 minutes from Fremantle. It also lies about 25 minutes away from the city centre. The park features a dedicated area for children called Dragon’s Kingdom.

The park operates on a seasonal basis, opening for seven months a year from spring through autumn. To maintain safety and security, management enforces a self-imposed daily capacity, typically ranging between 4,000 and 5,000 guests. This controlled flow ensures that the density of the park remains manageable despite its relatively compact footprint, which sits roughly 20 kilometres from Perth's central business district. The facility undergoes a mandatory winter closure every year. It includes a Hawaiian-themed water playground known as Kahuna Falls. This area is recognized as the biggest water playground of its type in Australia.

Investment in the park's evolution is significant, highlighted by the 2013 addition of Abyss, a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster. At A$12 million, it stands as the single largest investment in the park's history. Other major features include the A$7 million Kraken, which holds the title of the world's longest and steepest funnel waterslide of its kind, and the A$7.5 million Goliath. The park continues to evolve, typically announcing a new major attraction every two seasons, often using the codename "MI" (Major Impact) to signal upcoming developments. The park features a HUSS Rides SHOT'N DROP called Inferno. It replaced a previous ride on the same site. Guests can also experience a downhill sled on a concrete track. A wax figure display is housed within the Haunted Castle.
