The three-day manhunt for the world's most powerful battleship
In short: In May 1941, the British Royal Navy launched a desperate pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck. This documentary reconstructs the high-stakes hunt to see if Britain could protect its vital lifelines from a floating fortress.
The hunt for the Bismarck was a pivotal moment in World War II, occurring as Hitler prepared to invade the Soviet Union. The British feared that if the heavily armored and fast battleship broke through, it would sever essential convoys of fuel and food from the United States, leaving Britain isolated.
Using archival footage and 3D reconstructions, the film explores how intelligence failures, mechanical limits, and human decisions influenced the outcome. It tracks the progression from the destruction of the HMS Hood to the final confrontation in the North Atlantic.
