From child star to leading lady: the television journey of Hiba Nawab
In short: Hiba Nawab has navigated the complex landscape of Indian television for nearly two decades. Starting her career as a young child artist, she has transitioned through various genres, from supernatural dramas to lighthearted comedies, eventually securing her place among the most desirable women on screen.
Hiba Nawab's career in Hindi television began in 2008, when she made her debut as a child artist playing the character Dolly in the series Ssshhhh... Phir Koi Hai. Following this early start, she appeared in Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar as Shweta Singh and concluded her period as a child performer in Lo Ho Gayi Pooja Iss Ghar Ki. After a brief hiatus from the industry, she returned to the screen in 2013 to take on her first leading role.
Her breakthrough into adult leading roles began in 2013 when she portrayed Anushka Atwal in the Channel V youth drama Crazy Stupid Ishq. This period marked a significant expansion of her versatility. In 2015, she appeared in Star Plus's Tere Sheher Mein as Amaya Mathur Gupta, a role for which she also provided a vocal performance for the reprised version of the song Dheere Dheere. By 2016, she moved into Zee TV's Meri Saasu Maa, playing Pari Sinha Singh Chauhan.
Nawab's range was further demonstrated through her work in various comedic and dramatic settings. Between 2018 and 2020, she played Elaichi Bansal Khurana in the Sony SAB production Jijaji Chhat Per Hain, a performance that earned her an Indian Telly Award for the best female actor in a popular comic role. She continued her success with a double role in Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai in 2021, portraying both Connaught Place "CP" Sharma and Chandraprabha. Her recent work includes roles in Star Bharat's Woh Toh Hai Albelaa and Star Plus's Jhanak, the latter spanning from late 2023 through mid-2025.
Her rising popularity was reflected in 2017 when the Times of India ranked her 19th on their list of the 20 most desirable women currently appearing on television.
