In short: Born in the Netherlands to Dominican parents, Pablo Rosario once faced the immense pressure of being dubbed the next Ronaldo. After representing the Dutch national team, he navigated a complex path of international allegiance to eventually play for the Dominican Republic.

Cristian Pablo Mañón Paulino, known professionally as Pablo Rosario, has lived a career defined by high-stakes transitions. Born on 7 January 1997, the midfielder's early years in the Netherlands were documented in the 2012 film *The Price of Heaven*, which followed his time captaining the DWS under-13 squad. As a youth, he was famously sensationalized by the media as a future successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, a label that accompanied his decision to join the Ajax B2 academy in 2010 under coach Orlando Trustfull.

Rosario's professional trajectory saw him move through several of Europe's prominent clubs. After a stint at Almere City, he made his professional debut for the Eerste Divisie side on 7 August 2015, appearing as a substitute in a 3–3 draw against Voch VVV-Venlo. His career later took him to PSV, where he secured the 2017–18 Eredivisie title and scored against Inter Milan in the Champions League on 3 October 2018. Following a period with the French club Nice, where he scored in an 8–0 win against Saint-Étienne in September 2024, he signed with Porto in August 2025.

Perhaps most significant is his international journey. While Rosario initially represented the Netherlands at the U-16 and U19 levels—including a debut against England U19 in November 2015—and earned a senior call-up from Ronald Koeman in October 2018, his allegiance eventually shifted. On 29 May 2025, FIFA approved his request to switch his international representation to the Dominican Republic, the nation of his heritage.
