In short: In 1960, the Benjamin School began in a modest three-car garage. Today, it is a premier private institution in Florida, serving over 1,300 students and boasting a 100% historical college acceptance rate. Its journey from a local startup to an elite academic hub is a masterclass in institutional growth.

Founded by Marshall and Nancy Benjamin in 1960 as North Palm Beach Private School, the institution initially catered to wealthy families who otherwise would have sent their children to boarding schools. The school's expansion was rapid: it added seventh and eighth grades in 1974, and the first high school class graduated in 1979. By 2014, a modernization campaign raised approximately $40 million to construct major facilities, including the Benjamin Hall performing arts center and the Maglio Family STEM Center.

The school's academic and athletic prestige is underscored by its high-profile alumni and connections. It serves as a hub for professional sports families, with notable figures like Jack Nicklaus serving as trustee emeritus. The student body has produced diverse talents, ranging from Olympic gold medalist swimmer Ryan Berube to NFL cornerback Kaiir Elam and screenwriter Mark Swift. Academically, the school offers 23 AP and 16 honors courses, requiring students to complete a two-week internship and study world languages starting in pre-kindergarten.

The institution has also navigated significant modern challenges. Following the 2017 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, the school switched to armed security guards in January 2018. It also managed the COVID-19 pandemic by securing a $3.1 million federal Paycheck Protection Program loan, which coincided with a period of significant growth where applications more than doubled between 2017 and 2022. Despite these shifts, the school maintains its status as a top-tier private high school in Palm Beach County.
