Vivianne Miedema's ascent began in her hometown of Hoogeveen, where she played for HZVV before moving to VV De Weide in 2009. Her professional journey accelerated at age 14 when she signed with SC Heerenveen, making her senior debut at 15 against FC Utrecht on 2 September 2011. This debut marked her as the youngest ever player in the Eredivisie, the top Dutch league.
Her career is defined by a relentless scoring instinct. In the 2013–14 BeNe League season, she scored 41 goals in 26 games at age 17, outscoring her nearest competitor by 15 goals. After a successful stint at Bayern Munich—where she won two consecutive Frauen-Bundesliga titles in 2015 and 2016—she moved to Arsenal in May 2017. At Arsenal, she became the first player in WSL history to score against every team they had faced, a milestone achieved on 9 September 2021.
Miedema's statistical dominance is highlighted by her efficiency; during her early WSL career, she averaged one goal every 83 minutes. She has achieved the rare feat of scoring 10 or more goals in five different WSL seasons. Aside from club trophies, she proved vital for the Netherlands, guiding them to a 2017 UEFA Euro victory and a runner-up spot at France's 2019 FIFA World Cup. Even after facing significant injury setbacks, such as an anterior cruciate ligament tear in December 2022, her impact remains profound, continuing her career with Manchester City after joining in July 2024.
