In short: From a highly touted prospect in the KHL to a two-time Stanley Cup champion, Vladimir Tarasenko’s career is defined by elite scoring. Known for a unique, lethal wrist shot, he has navigated trades, major injuries, and contract disputes to remain one of the NHL's most dangerous threats.

Vladimir Tarasenko’s ascent began in the Russian KHL, where he debuted with Sibir Novosibirsk during the 2008–09 season. A standout talent from the start, he was the runner-up for Rookie of the Year in the league's inaugural season and was later ranked as the top European skater by International Scouting Services ahead of the 2010 NHL entry draft. Drafted 16th overall by the St. Louis Blues, Tarasenko eventually moved to North America in 2012, following a brief stint with SKA Saint Petersburg.

His tenure in St. Louis was marked by prolific scoring and significant hardware. He was a key figure in the Blues' 2019 Stanley Cup victory, the first in the franchise's 52-year history. Apart from his consistent regular-season success, Tarasenko reached uncommon milestones, joining Alexander Ovechkin as one of just two individuals to net 30+ goals throughout a five-year period spanning 2014 to 2019. However, his time in St. Louis also saw periods of friction, including a 2021 trade request stemming from dissatisfaction with the club's management of his recurring shoulder surgeries.

Tarasenko's career has been characterized by movement across the NHL landscape. After stints with the New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators, he joined the Florida Panthers, where he secured a second Stanley Cup in 2024. His journey has seen him navigate the physical toll of the sport, including three shoulder surgeries in less than three years, yet he has consistently maintained his reputation as a premier goal scorer. Most recently, his career has taken him through Detroit and Minnesota, continuing a legacy of high-impact play.
