How to hide an unsightly gas meter with a custom utility cover
In short: Utility meters are often eyesores in front of a home. In this video, carpenter Nathan Gilbert demonstrates how to construct a removable, weather-resistant cover that improves curb appeal while remaining code-compliant.
The project involves building a frame using 4x4" posts and securing composite decking with deck screws. To ensure the structure is both functional and aesthetic, Nathan Gilbert includes steps for centering and attaching house numbers to the front of the box. Once the cover is positioned around the gas meter, adding weights provides extra support.
