In short: A trio of space travelers departed from Kazakhstan to join the ongoing mission aboard the International Space Station. This launch marks the start of a two-month period where six individuals will live and conduct research together in orbit.

The crew, consisting of Joseph Acaba, Gennady Padalka, and Sergei Revin, began their journey on May 14, 2012, at 11:01 p.m. EDT from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Their Soyuz TMA-04M craft is set to connect with the station's Poisk module on May 17.

Upon arrival, they will integrate with the existing team of Oleg Kononenko, Don Pettit, and André Kuipers. This latter group has maintained a continuous presence on the station since December 23, 2011. The combined team of six will operate the orbiting laboratory for approximately two months.
