Testing the Soyuz launch sequence at Europe's Spaceport
In short: Watch a simulated launch campaign at French Guiana, where teams practiced the complex procedures required to move and prepare a Soyuz rocket for flight.
Between 29 April and 5 May 2011, the European Space Agency conducted a dry run to ensure the Soyuz and new facilities at Europe's Spaceport functioned together. The exercise allowed teams to train under realistic conditions and validated launch phase procedures, excluding the vehicle's fuelling.
The simulation involved transferring the vehicle from the preparation building to the launch zone, erecting it vertically, and rolling out the mobile gantry. The process concluded with the installation of the Fregat upper stage and payload fairing, followed by a simulated liftoff and downrange flight.
