The human faces behind the science of microgravity
In short: Watch the upcoming residents of the International Space Station share their preparations for life in orbit. This footage captures the transition from Earth-bound training to the high-stakes environment of space research.
On 19 December, Russian cosmonaut Roman Romanenko, Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency, and NASA's Tom Marshburn will depart to become part of Expedition 34. They will be joined in March by Chris Cassidy, Pavel Vinogradov, and Alexander Misurkin for Expedition 35.
Beyond the human element, the crew conducts complex research into how space affects bone density and visual perception. They also study fluid responses to magnetic fields and measure the impact of electromagnetic radiation on the climate.
