A personal milestone for a representative recovering from violence
In short: This footage captures a poignant moment of public service and personal resilience. Following the launch of the STS-134 mission, U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords met with the media to discuss her husband's space journey.
The meeting took place at NASA's Kennedy Space Center following the Monday launch of the STS-134 mission. The flight was commanded by astronaut Mark Kelly, the husband of Representative Giffords.
The event served as a public appearance for Giffords, who was traveling to witness the launch while continuing her recovery from a shooting that occurred in her Tucson district in January.
