What does the Norse myth of Odin’s raven reveal about modern space exploration?

Follow ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen as he prepares for the Huginn mission. This video captures the Crew-7 team arriving at Kennedy Space Center and training for their upcoming journey to the International Space Station aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft.

Named after one of the two ravens belonging to the Norse god Odin, Huginn translates to 'thought.' Just as the mythical raven traveled the world to gather knowledge, Mogensen’s mission focuses on collecting scientific data during his time aboard the International Space Station. This marks his second flight to the station, following his 10-day 'iriss' mission in 2015.

Mogensen serves as the pilot for the Crew-7 mission, working alongside commander Jasmin Moghbeli, and mission specialists Satoshi Furukawa and Konstantin Borisov. The crew will launch from the historic launch pad 39A—the same site used for Apollo and Shuttle missions—aboard the spacecraft Endurance.
