A $100 million view into the heart of a space icon
In short: Experience the interior of the Space Shuttle Atlantis like never before. This new exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center offers a rare, 360-degree perspective on the engineering marvels that defined NASA's history.
The exhibition features a replica of an 184-foot orange fuel tank with twin solid boosters, positioned just miles from the original launch site. A centerpiece of the display is the Space Shuttle Atlantis, positioned at a 43-degree slant with its cargo bay doors open. This specific orientation allows the public to see areas previously restricted to astronauts and engineers.
A life-sized Hubble Telescope replica, fake shuttle cabins, and an EVA suit are featured within the $100 million display. These elements work together to chronicle how Atlantis shaped space history, providing a comprehensive look at the technology and missions of the shuttle program.
